DIY: Tasty recipes with apple (part one)

An apple a day… keeps the doctor away! This is exactly why people should eat more apples. Here some inspiring recipes, even though they are not always as healthy…
Caramel apples:
Practically these are just apples on a stick that you dip in fluid confectionery, e.g. caramel, sugar or chocolate.

You will need:
- Six small apples
- One cup of cream
- One cup of sugar
- One fourth cup of molasses
- Two spoons of butter
- Six wooden sticks
- A thermometer

Step one:
Mix the butter, sugar and molasses in a pan and bring it to the boil. Let it boil for 10 to 12 minutes until the caramel has reached 245°C.

Step two:
Let it cool down immediately after reaching that point. It may be handy to have a vessel with ice-cold water next to the stove to put your pan in, in order to prevent your caramel from burning.

Step three:
Peel the apples and put in one stick in every apple. After this, roll your apple through the caramel. If necessary, use a spoon to divide the caramel over the apple.

Step four:
Put your apples on a plate and place them in the refrigerator to cool down before you eat them:).
Still not tasty enough? You can also roll your apple through another layer of chocolate!

Step one:
Melt little pieces of chocolate in the microwave or a pan. If it is fluid enough, you roll your apples through the chocolate.

Of course, you can decorate your caramel/chocolate/caramel-chocolate apples, for example by rolling them through crumbs of cookies or chocolate sprinkles!

Enjoy!
